Prompt Engineering Reflection
As shown, the first resume is my original. To target my resumes toward career specific industries, I instructed AI with precise prompts.
For the Marketing Assistant version, I included targeting toward a marketing role with a media team highlighting my skills from my previous employer to match the skills it would take to work in this role. The new version updated my hospitality and leadership experience into transferable skills that matter to performance marketing teams. These skills include coordination, analytics thinking, quality control, multitasking, communication, accuracy, and deadline management, all important skills to obtain a Marketing Assistant role.
For the Human Resources resume, the prompts I used was to target a job as a Human Resources assistant providing general administrative support, handling employee files, scheduling interviews, and answering basic HR questions. The new version reframed my experience to highlight administrative support, documentation accuracy, communication, scheduling, and customer/employee service, all important skills of an HR Assistant.
Through this exercise, I learned that prompt engineering is about giving clear, concise, detailed instructions to get accurate and and useful results from AI tools. Most importantly to provide the industry and goals for the position I am seeking. Overall it taught me how to communicate effectively with AI to streamline tasks and meet the needs I am seeking.
